When will I get my check?
Usually the same or next business day. It is the question we hear most, and after all that work and patience, who doesn't like a payday?
Often the same day it closes.
If you are owed net proceeds from a sale, or a commission as the realtor, you can usually expect a check to be cut the same or next business day.
We make every effort to pay everyone quickly. Timing can still depend on the day and time of the closing: most banks close by 5 or 6 pm and are shut on weekends. If you are out of town, the check is mailed, so allow an extra day or two for it to arrive.
Close Monday to Thursday.
Want your funds fast? Choose a Monday to Thursday closing date, so a closed bank or office does not push your money into the next week.
A wire is not always faster.
People often assume a wire beats a paper check. Not always: because of cyber fraud, wires can need extra checks and approvals, and may take an extra 24 hours to arrive.
Picked up, or mailed if you are out of town (add a day or two).
Extra verification protects you from fraud. Always confirm wire details by phone.
